ABOUT

Blown Glass Earth

ABOUT ME

As an environmental artist residing in a bustling UK fishing port, my creative essence is deeply intertwined with the relentless ebb and flow of the sea, where I embrace the raw power and tranquility of its waters as a dedicated year-round sea swimmer. Each day, the sea reveals to me the stark realities of human impact on our aquatic realms.

In my artistic journey across disciplines, I fervently explore the intricate tapestry of climate change and environmental connections through a myriad of expressive mediums. My creations stand as poignant embodiments of urgency, urging viewers to delve into the profound web of interconnectedness between humanity and the fragile ecosystems that sustain us. Acting as an impassioned advocate, diligent researcher, and evocative storyteller, my works resonate with a visceral call to action.

Through the fusion of materials such as repurposed glass, organic elements, and digital technologies, I strive to weave a narrative that illustrates the delicate dance between the artificial constructs of our world and the untouched splendor of nature. Every stroke of my brush and every sculpted form serves as a testament to the harmonious coexistence, yet jarring dissonance, between the realms of mankind and the earth.

As I immerse myself in the creation of tangible installations, I also find solace and inspiration in the act of painting and sketching the breathtaking beauty of our coastal landscapes. These art forms serve as a heartfelt homage to the intricate ecosystems that beckon us to protect and preserve them for generations to come.
My artistic endeavors aim to not only spark conversations and ignite collective action but also to stir the depths of the soul, fostering a profound sense of empathy and responsibility towards the environment. Together, let us embark on a journey of transformation, embracing a sustainable and mindful stewardship of our shared Earth.

CURRENT EXHIBITION

  • AQUA SINGULARIS: THE LAST RESERVOIR

"Aqua Singularis: The Last Reservoir" by Tara Hughes-Law is an art exhibition that delves into the profound impacts of consumption and human impact on aquatic environments.

The central piece is a scallop dredger net made from recycled wine bottles, symbolising the effects of overconsumption on marine habitats. Adding depth to the exhibition are glass coral sculptures that serve as a vivid juxtaposition against the dredger net, highlighting the fragile beauty of marine life amidst human-induced turmoil.

Hughes-Law's intimate connection with the ocean, as an all year round sea swimmer, gives rise to witnessing the environmental neglect, including heart-wrenching sights of injured or deceased marine fauna, which fuels her advocacy for conservation. The exhibition serves as a call to action, urging viewers to reflect on their role in preserving marine ecosystems.

Through her visionary work, Hughes-Law transforms "Aqua Singularis" into a platform for environmental awareness and responsibility.
